XlynX Materials Inc. Producing First Commercial Hydrogenated Graphite (Graphane)

0

XlynX Materials Inc. (XlynX) has refined its process for manufacturing highly hydrogenated graphite (graphane) and is now commercializing the material for research and development purposes. The company’s priority is to identify key uses for its graphane powder and scale up production to meet expected industrial demand. XlynX plans to work with key researchers to customize its graphane for specific market applications and invest in streamlining its manufacturing processes.
While graphene has been available on the market for a number of years, graphane, its hydrogenated counterpart, has been notoriously absent. Graphane has exceptional electronic, chemical, optical, magnetic, and thermal properties that make it an excellent candidate for use in hydrogen storage, advanced 2D electronic devices, transistors, electron–phonon superconductors, highly sensitive nanosensors, etc.
To quote from a recent U.S. Naval Research Laboratory publication, “Hydrogenated graphene (graphane) will remain a powerful influence in the field of materials science not only for its own sake, but also for the lessons that it will impart to newer and more advanced 2D materials.” [Whitener, KE, “Review Article: Hydrogenated graphene: A user’s guide.” J. Vac. Sci. Technol. A 36, 05G401 (2018)]

XlynX is the first company to make graphane available on a commercial basis. XlynX Graphane Powder can be purchased by contacting info@xlynmaterials.com Sintered graphane pellets and other unique graphane products will be available later in 2021.
